This specimen was lot 76553 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Qajar Dynasty. 5000 Dinars, AH 1324 (1906/07). Tehran Mint. Mozaffar ad-Din Shah. NGC VF Details--Mount Removed, Cleaned. Despite the noted damage and cleaning, this example of an elusive type and date displays presentable details and offers an affordable representative of style." This very rare type was struck AH 1324 only. This denomination also exists in gold for Muzaffar al-Din Shah (Fr-71) and Muhammad Ali Shah (Fr-81).
