Iran AH 1271 1/2 kran
This specimen was lot 85 in Sincona sale 92 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 2,200 CHF (about US$3,049 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN Qajar Dynasty, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 1/2 Kran 1271 AH (1854/1855), Tehran Mint. With facing portrait, not in profile. Struck with an obverse die intended for gold (die identical with Kian 2, 206). Sehr selten, Very rare. NGC AU50. Purchased from M. Abgarians, Glendale, California, in 1988. Erroneously certified as 'Kran' by NGC."
This specimen was lot 2864 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,713 including buyers' fees). This may be an off-metal strike of the gold KM-858. There is also a half kran with the shah's bust facing left (KM 828.3).
