India 1989-B 100 rupees
This specimen was lot 75145 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Silver 100 Rupees, 1989-B. Bombay Mint. NGC PROOF-63 Ultra Cameo. Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. An impressive large proof issue in silver. The intricate matte portrait of Nehru contrasts stunningly with the mirrored fields. Choice in quality with only a pale champagne tone." Nehru, hero of the struggle for independence and the first prime minister of the republic of India, also appeared on a copper-nickel one (KM 83), five (KM-151) and twenty rupees (KM 244).
