This specimen was issued by India 1983-93. This specimen is from the Calcutta mint (note no diamond below the date). Simultaneous with this aluminum coin, a stainless steel ten paise (KM 40.1) was struck 1988-98. The denomination is no longer struck, inflation having rendered it worthless.
Recorded mintage: 264,510,000 including Bombay and Hyderabad.
Specification: 2.3 g, aluminum, 26 mm diameter.
