Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice Online Auction, lot 76180

This specimen was lot 76180 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 5 Rupees, 1989-(B). Bombay Mint. NGC MS-65. Variety with large head. Struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Nehru's birth." This bust of Nehru appeared on a one rupee (KM 83), five rupees (shown here), twenty rupees (KM 244) and 100 rupees (KM 285).

Recorded mintage: unknown with a diamond plus proofs with a "B" plus more from Hyderabad (mintmark star).

Specification: 12.6 g, copper-nickel, 31.1 mm diameter, security edge.
