This specimen was lot 56599 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/2 Rupee, 1943-(B). Bombay Mint. George VI. PCGS MS-64." This type was struck 1942-45 of debased silver. A scarce variety exists with a diamond below the king's bust instead of the dot shown here. Proofs exist but are rare.
Recorded mintage: 90,400,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 5.84 g, 0.500 fine silver, 24.1 mm diameter.
