Stack's Bowers September 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75130

This specimen was lot 75130 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Mint Error -- Broadstruck -- 1/2 Rupee, 1944-(B). Bombay Mint. George VI. NGC EF-45. An appealing example, delivering good details and a notable brockage seen with particular character on the reverse. Moderate handling is seen, but faults are limited and unobtrusive." This type was struck 1942-45 of debased silver. This is a common date. The diamond mintmark is on the bottom of the reverse.

Recorded mintage: 46,200,000 (dot or diamond mintmark).

Specification: 5.84 g, 0.500 fine silver, 24.1 mm diameter, security edge.
