Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 42273

This specimen was lot 42273 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/2 Anna, 1942-(B). Bombay Mint. George VI. NGC MS-65." This denomination was struck in nickel-brass at Bombay in 1942-45. The presence of dots before and after "INDIA" indicate a Calcutta strike.

Recorded mintage: 7,945,000 plus restrikes.
