This one twelfth anna was the smallest denomination struck in India during the British Raj. Sixteen annas made a rupee, so 192 of these made a rupee. This type was struck 1903-06, then converted to bronze 1906-10. All seem to be products of the Calcutta mint. Silver and aluminum restrikes exist. The denomination was discontinued in 1942.
Recorded mintage: 7,883,000 plus proofs and restrikes.
