This specimen was lot 57096 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Hyderabad. 1/8 Ashrafi, AH 1343 Year 14 (1924). Hyderabad Mint. Mir Usman Ali Khan. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned." The Indian princely state of Hyderabad was one of the few large enough and wealthy enough to mint an extensive series of gold coins. This type was struck years 8, 11, 14-15, 24-27, 31 and 37-39. Hyderabad merged with India in 1948 and the local coinage ceased.
