Hyderabad AH 1341(12) rupee
This specimen was lot 2529 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "HYDERABAD: Mir Usman Ali Khan, 1911-1948, AR rupee, Farkhanda Bunyad Hyderabad, AH1341 year 12, a wonderful mint state example! NGC graded MS64." The princely state of Hyderabad was one of the last absorbed into the Republic of India in 1948. It was also the largest state and residence of the last remnant of Mughal suzerainty in central India. Many of the issues, including this one, show the Chahar Minar gateway on the obverse. This type was struck years 1-14 and the AH 1341 is common.
