This specimen was lot 73597 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. 10 Filler, 1950-BP. Budapest Mint. NGC MS-66. Three pellet stops in the obverse legend. Attractive specimen with great obverse luster and a more subdued satiny reverse." Hungary joined the Axis during World War Two and was rewarded with defeat, devastation and Russian occupation. After several years of confusion, communist rule was imposed in 1949 and an uprising was crushed in 1956. The Hungarian regime remained loyal to Moscow until the general collapse of 1989-90. This type was struck 1950-51 and 1955-66 and this is the only scarce date. This denomination was also struck in aluminum bronze in 1950 (KM 530).
