SA54-2766b.jpg

This specimen was part of lot 2766 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY: People's Republic, 3-coin mint set, 1956, 10th Anniversary of Forint commemorative silver coin set, including Hungarian National Museum Building 10 forint, Széchenyi Chain Bridge (Lánchíd) 20 forint, Parliament House 25 forint, a lovely well-matched set in original case of issue, set of 3 coins." This commemorative set honored the tenth anniversary of the new forint, the old forint having been inflated to worthlessness after World War Two. The Hungarian Uprising of November 1956 exposed the emptiness of the communist regime's claim to represent the popular will.

Recorded mintage: 22,000.

Specification: 20 g, 0.800 fine silver, 34 mm diameter, lettered edge.

Catalog reference: KM 554.
