Sincona sale 43, lot 2645

This specimen was lot 2645 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 145 CHF (about US$173 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Ungarn, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780 1/2 Taler 1780. Kremnitz. Gutes vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (kingdom of Hungary, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, half thaler of 1780, Kremnitz mint. Good extremely fine. Better than average.)"

The arms obverse/Madonna reverse design is distinctive to Hungary, where it appears on many denominations. This subtype is listed for 1778-80.
