Sincona sale 39, lot 4065

This specimen was lot 4065 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780 1/2 Konventionstaler 1779. Kremnitz Mit S.K.-P.D. unter der Madonna. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, half convention thaler of 1779, Kremnitz mint, with 'SK-PD' under the Madonna. Extremely fine.)"

The arms obverse/Madonna reverse design is distinctive to Hungary, where it appears on many denominations.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, .375 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 13.92 g.
