This specimen was lot 24123 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $2,467.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Joseph II gold 2 Ducats 1778 E-HS, Karlsburg mint, MS61 NGC. A nicely struck example with even handling in the reflective fields that defines the grade." Like most double ducats, this type listed for 1777-80, is scarce. Altho Friedberg lists this under Hungary, we have followed the SCWC and filed it under Austria.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Catalog reference: Her-15, Fr-191 (Hungary), KM 1869 (Austria).
