This specimen was lot 3476 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,455 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Josef II. 1765-1790. 2 Dukaten 1779, E/HG, Karlsburg. GOLD. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Austria, Joseph II, 1765-90, double ducat of 1779, Karlsburg mint. Rare in this quality, proof example, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
Like most double ducats, this type listed for 1777-80, is scarce. Altho Friedberg lists this under Hungary, we have followed the SCWC and filed it under Austria.
