Künker Auction 425, lot 1410

This specimen was lot 1410 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €3,000 (about US$4,248 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Dukat 1780 IB-IV, Nagybánya. GOLD. RR Min. berieben, fast vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, ducat of 1780, Nagybánya mint. Very rare, lightly polished, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1766-71 and 1774-80 at Nagybánya using a Madonna reverse. Thus this coin is filed under Hungary even tho it was made in Transylvania.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
