Hungary 1705-CH 3 krajczar
This specimen was lot 1265 in Jean Elsen sale 135 (Brussels, December 2017), where it sold for €220 (about US$305 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SAINT EMPIRE, Joseph Ier (1705-1711), AR 3 Kreuzer, 1705CH, Pressburg. Type hongrois. D/ B. cuir. à d. R/ La Madone de Hongrie dans une gloire. Superbe. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph I, 1705-11, silver three kreuzer of 1705, Pressburg mint, Hungarian type. Obverse: armored bust to right; reverse: the Virgin of Hungary in a glory. Extremely fine.)"
This common type was struck at Pressburg 1705-11. The Pressburg mint may have been used because the Rebellion of the Malcontents denied access to the Kremnitz mint.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 1,63 g.
Catalog reference: KM 272, Her. 230; Huszar 1578.
