Künker sale 406, lot 4573

This specimen was lot 4573 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €240 (about US$315 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I. 1657-1705. 1/2 Reichstaler 1698, KB, Kremnitz. Hübsche Patina, fast vorzüglich. (Austria, Leopold I, 1657-1705, half thaler of 1698, Kremnitz mint. Handsome patina, about extremely fine.)"

Hungary in 1698 had been freshly reconquered by the Austrians from the Turks but was not part of the Empire. This type was struck 1690-99 and is fairly common.
