from Jean Elsen sale 132, lot 1037

This specimen was lot 1037 in Jean Elsen sale 132 (Brussels, March 2017), where it sold for €280 (about US$355 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SAINT EMPIRE, Matthias II (1608-1619), AV ducat, 1613, Kremnitz. Type hongrois. Au titre royal. D/ Le roi deb. à d., en tenue de couronnement. R/ La Madone à l'enfant dans une gloire. Rare Traces de montures. Beau. (Holy Roman Empire, Matthias II (1608-19), gold ducat of 1613, Kremnitz mint, Hungarian type, with the royal title. Obverse: the king stands to right, in his coronation robes; reverse: the Madonna and Child in a glory. Rare, traces of a mount, fine.)"

Altho Friedberg lumps all the issues of 1613 under Fr-81, the SCWC notes two types: KM 37 issued 1609-13 with robe closed and KM 42 issued 1613-20 with robe open. The SCWC gives both the same price.
