Honduras 1907 25 centavos
This type was struck in 1899-1913, accompanied by similar five, ten, fifty centavos and one pesos. As dies were extensively reused, innumerable varieties exist. For 1907, the SCWC lists 1907/4 as more common than the regular date. This date is listed as rather scarce. In 1899, the denomination was reduced from .900 to 0.835 fine, leading to more varieties as many dies engraved "0.900" were simply overstamped "0.835." The specimen shown was lot 1244 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Honduras, 25 centavos, 1907/4. Choice XF for type (very rare grade, far superior to the Dana Roberts specimen), with luster and light toning, scarce late date in series." .
