Honduras 1908 centavo KM-61
This specimen was lot 1049 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Honduras, bronze 1 centavo, 1908, wreath type, denomination UN/10, REPLBLICA error, rotated axis, rare, NGC MS 62 BN, finest and only example in NGC census, ex-Roberts. Unusually well struck, with all details full and bold, faint traces of original color and luster and no evidence of corrosion or die-rust, an odd and interesting product of the sloppy Tegucigalpa mint using 10-centavos dies from 1884-1900 with modified date and denomination, the UN/10 overpunch particularly bold, also with the reverse rotated about 240 degrees relative to the obverse, especially rare this nice, in fact the only example graded by NGC. Pedigreed to the Dana Roberts collection." This type was struck 1890-91 and 1908 along with KM-59.
Reported Mintage: unknown but a better date.
Specification: 4.5 g, bronze, 20 mm diameter.
