Honduras 1910 25 centavos
This specimen was lot 1168 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $10,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS, Tegucigalpa, 25 centavos, 1910, fineness 0.835/0.900, extremely rare, PCGS VF details / cleaned, finest and only example in PCGS census. Exceptional rarity. First known auction offering of this date. Important first chance for collectors. Contrastingly toned, with bold rims, some wear but mostly weakly struck, yet with clear date and over-fineness, this date missing in KM but listed in Stickney as "possibly unique" from a mintage of 745 coins (other reports say 340), this being the first example we have ever seen or heard of, the only one at PCGS with none at NGC, and a very important coin for the Honduras specialist." This type was struck 1899-1907, 1910-13 and 1918; earlier issues were 0.900 fine. Overdates and varieties abound. The peso was dropped in favor of the lempira in 1931.
Recorded mintage: 745.
Specification: 6.25 g, 0.835 fine silver, 24 mm diameter.
