This specimen was lot 1035 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $3,480. The catalog description[1] noted, "Honduras, gold 1 peso, 1889, very rare, PCGS AU58, finest and only example in PCGS census. Choice luster and strike, very flashy in an attractive yellow hue, key date that was previously unlisted in KM, which now says only five are known, of which this is finest at PCGS and tied with another at same grade at NGC behind a single MS 66." This type was struck 1888-89, 1895-99 and all the way to 1922. No dates are common but this one is likely the key.
Reported Mintage: unknown but a rare date.
