This specimen was lot 30150 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $22,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Holland. Provincial Lion Daalder 1683 MS64★ NGC. A coin wholly outside the bounds of what would be considered normal striking quality for this usually crude type, its devices showcasing incredible strength and precision, defying every expectation by the exactness of their execution. Similarly, the flan itself reveals an unusually high quality and roundness, which, together with the sharp strike, lends an appearance of a coin that may well have been struck as a presentation piece or specimen issue of sorts. From the Cape Coral Collection of European Crowns." This type was struck 1606-17, 1621-68, 1674-76, 1679-80, 1683-87, 1697. It is fairly common but nearly always badly struck.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.68 g, 0.750 fine silver.
