Jean Elsen sale 154, lot 1865

This specimen was lot 1865 in Jean Elsen sale 154 (Brussels, March 2023), where it sold for €60 (about US$78 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, HOLLAND, Provincie, AR roosschelling (6 stuiver), 1601. Vz/ Gekroond leeuwenschild binnen de Hollandse tuin. Kz/ Gebloemd kruis met roosje in het hart. Fraai à Zeer Fraai. (Netherlands, province of Holland, silver six stuivers of 1601. Obverse: crowned arms of Holland (lion rampant left); reverse: floriate cross with a rose at the center. Fine - Very Fine.)"

This is a one year type. The next six stuivers was struck in 1671 and is known as a scheepjesschelling.
