This specimen was lot 8017 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Lion Daal[d]er, 1601. NGC AU-55. A slightly worn example that does display all of the crudeness one would expect for the type." Lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. This type is recorded in the SCWC for Holland for 1601-97 with various mintmarks. An earlier type was struck in the 1580's.
