This specimen was lot 4212 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €200 (about US$263 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Ludwig VIII. 1739-1768. 12 Kreuzer 1759, Darmstadt. Münzmeister Andreas Koch. In US-Plastikholder der PCGS mit der Bewertung MS 62 (46804429). Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Feine Tönung, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (landgraviate of hesse-Darmstadt, Louis VIII, 1739-68, twelve kreuzer of 1759, Darmstadt mint. Graded PCGS MS-62, scarce in this quality, cabinet example, fine toning, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1745-48, 1751 and 1759. Twelve kreuzer made 1/10 of a convention thaler.
