This specimen was lot 1018 in Schulman sale 375 (Amsterdam, April 2023), where it sold for €6,000 (about US$7,851 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "HESSEN–KASSEL, FRIEDRICH I 1730–1751. ½ Ducat. 1748. Head right. Rev. crowned lion dividing date, value in exergue. RR in this grade. NGC MS62. Finest known at NGC." This rare type was struck 1748 only. The coinage of this state was very scanty in the eighteenth century.
