This specimen was lot 46697 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $810. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hannover. 1/6 Taler, 1862-B. Hannover Mint. Georg V. PCGS PROOF-64 Cameo." This type was struck 1859-63 and 1866. Hannover, originally part of the Brunswick-Luneburg domain, was made an electorate in 1698 and joined to Great Britain in 1714. Napoleon made it part of the kingdom of Westphalia but Metternich restored it as a kingdom at the Congress of Vienna. Hannover was separated from Great Britain in 1837, on the death of William IV, and annexed to Prussia in 1866.
