Künker sale 386, lot 5225

This specimen was lot 5225 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,680 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, AB 1692 KURFÜRSTENTUM HANNOVER, Georg III. 1760-1820. Reichstaler 1797, Clausthal. Hübsche Patina, fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Frankfurter Münzhandlung 116, Frankfurt/Main 1969, Nr. 784 (Abb. der Rückseite dort unter Nr. 778). (electorate of Hannover, George III, 1760-1820, thaler of 1797, Clausthal mint. Handsome patina, about extremely fine.)"

This bust thaler was struck 1773-76, 1779-86, 1791-97. Despite the many years of issue, it is scarce.
