Künker Auction 426, lot 3630

This specimen was lot 3630 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €430 (about US$609 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, AB 1692 KURFÜRSTENTUM HANNOVER, AB 1815 KÖNIGREICH HANNOVER Georg III., 1760-1820. Reichstaler 1763, Clausthal. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreas. Hübsche Patina, kl. Kratzer im Feld, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Hannover, George III, 1760-1820, thaler of 1763, Clausthal mint, for the St. Andrew mine. Handsome patina, scratches in the field, about extremely fine.)"

This mining thaler was struck for George II (KM 232.2/Dav-2089A) and III (shown here) in 1763. This thaler was struck 1761-73 and is fairly common.
