Hannover 1745-IBH 1/6 thaler
This specimen was lot 74565 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 6 Mariengroschen (1/6 Taler), 1745-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, UNC Details. Luster can still be seen in this minor's protected areas, despite the light cleaning. The coin is also starting to re-tone in hues of champagne, russet, and cobalt. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1727-60 for George II and is common. Another 1/6 thaler, KM 266 with a bust obverse, was also struck in this reign but not in 1745.
