Hannover 1725-EPH thaler Dav-2077
This specimen was lot 73580 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. Taler, 1725-EPH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg Ludwig (George I of Great Britain). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, Unc Details. This attractive coin offers gun-metal surfaces with hints of argent and champagne in its protected areas. Despite the noted light cleaning, the surfaces are attractive. Bold detail and a strong strike on both sides of the coin are its most prominent features and will please the discerning numismatist. An outstanding example of the type. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This wild man thaler was struck 1717-27 and is fairly common.
