This specimen was lot 73578 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. Taler, 1723-C. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg Ludwig (George I of Great Britain). PCGS AU-53. This coin presents silvery gray surfaces with some champagne and just minor splashes of russet toning. Design features and lettering are bold, with only light wear and just a couple of inconsequential spots of softness. Attractive. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This wild man thaler was struck 1717-27 and is fairly common.
