Hamburg 1762-OHK 32 schilling

from the Stack's Bowers 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73755

This specimen was lot 73755 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $312. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hamburg. 32 Schilling, 1762-OHK. Francis I. NGC MS-61. Despite a slightly weak strike, the present example boasts an attractive white luster and less evidence of handling than one would expect for the grade assigned." This type was struck 1762-64 and is somewhat scarce. It is too small to qualify as a thaler, which was worth 48 schilling.
