This specimen was lot 6696 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUINEA. 5,000 Francs, 1970. NGC PROOF-68 ULTRA CAMEO. Queen Nefertiti. From a mintage of 774 pieces. Without marks, lines or breaks in the frosting on the devices." This type was issued in sets with a large number of silver 500 francs and gold 2000 francs, most likely distributed to the president's friends and cronies. This coin is not photographed in the SCWC, which instead depicts the similar silver 500 francs (KM 25).
