Guatemala 1791-NG M 1/2 real
The first specimen was part of lot 35274 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), which sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV Lot of Thirteen 1/2 Real Coins, Various dates and grades, some with problems. Average grade is F/VF. From The Santa Maria Collection." This type was struck 1791-1807 and is scarce compared the similar half real from Mexico City. This date features a "local bust." The second specimen was lot 46502 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[2] noted, "GUATEMALA. 1/2 Real, 1791-NG M. Guatemala Mint. Charles IV. PCGS EF-40."
