This specimen was lot 34025 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $2,460. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Groningen & Ommeland. Provincial Piefort 28 Stuivers (Florijn) 1692 AU53 NGC. Incredibly scarce in Piefort and among the most coveted double-weight strikings of this province. Aesthetically refined benefitting from a deep embossing of the devices throughout and embellished by a wonderful cabinet patina." The city struck this denomination in several varieties (KM 49 (arms/eagle with inner circle), KM 50 (arms/eagle without inner circle), KM 51 (arms/bust)) as well as the piedfort shown here.
