Groningen-Ommelanden 1691 28 stuivers
This specimen was lot 34024 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $10,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Groningen & Ommeland. Provincial Piefort 28 Stuivers (Florijn) 1691-(dog) AU58 NGC. An almost never encountered type seen once every few years at market, yet witnessed here in a wonderful Piefort, double-weight striking. Of exceptional quality for a series generally seen in lesser tiers of preservation, with a fully struck-up swordsman and reverse arms. From the Coenen Collection." The regular 28 stuivers was struck 1691 only. This is not a double weight piefort but 1½ times the normal weight.
