SB524-32487r.jpg

This specimen was lot 32487 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $16,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 500 Pounds, 2014. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. High relief. A RARE and impressive specimen, this Britannia issue delivers exquisitely frosted devices and intensely mirrored fields--the sum of which is a tantalizing cameo nature." Our edition of the SCWC doesn't include this issue so we'll take the auctioneer's attribution on faith. It is not mentioned in Friedberg. The bullion value is in excess of $12,000 as of July 2024.

Recorded mintage: 75.

Specification: 156.29 g, 0.999 fine gold, 5.00 troy oz AGW.
