Sincona sale 86, lot 1784

This specimen was lot 1784 in Sincona sale 86 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,481 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Elizabeth II. 1952-2022. Proof Gold Pound 2008, Royal Mint Llantrisant. Royal Arms. Sehr selten. Nur 674 Exemplare geprägt, Mit Originaletui und Zertifikat, Very rare. Only 674 pieces struck. NGC PF69 ULTRA CAMEO. With original box and certificate. No. 391 of 674 sets."

This variety of the one pound coin has the full royal arms on the reverse. This gold version was for sale to collectors; the 2008 pieces reported minted may not all have been sold. This denomination was also struck with a plain shield reverse (KM 1113).

Recorded mintage: 3,910,000 in brass plus 2008 in gold (674 per the auctioneers).

Specification: 9.5 g, nickel brass, 22.5 mm diameter, lettered edge, or 19.6 g, 0.917 fine gold. This specimen 19.63 g.
