Great Britain 2007 sovereign

from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71550

This specimen was lot 71550 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $720. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 2007. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. A wonderful and flashy Proof issue with hard mirrored surfaces and frosted devices." This type was struck 1998-2008, as a revival of the old sovereign struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold two pounds and five pounds, also not intended to circulate.

Recorded mintage: 75,000 + 12,500 proofs.
