Great Britain 2007 5 pounds KM-1003
This specimen was lot 71528 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Pounds, 2007. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Technically flawless, this shimmering specimen offers a cameoed nature to the fields that enlivens them, with their illuminated nature seemingly rising from the surfaces. The penultimate year of issue for this portrait style." This type was struck 1999-2015 as a revival of the old five pounds struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold sovereign and two pounds, also not intended to circulate.
