This specimen was lot 44643 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 3 Pence, 1897. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-65." This type was struck for the Maundy sets 1893-1901. The threepence was also struck for circulation, the only coin in the Maundy set to do so. This example is a circulation strike.
Recorded mintage: 4,541,200 plus 9,388 for the Maundy sets.
Specification: 1.41 g, 0.925 fine silver, 16 mm diameter, plain edge.
