This specimen was lot 2396 in Goldberg sale 110 (Los Angeles, June 2019), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Halfcrown, 1887. Victoria. Obverse: Jubilee bust of queen by Boehm. Reverse: Crowned shield. Mint state with attractive golden green tone. NGC graded MS-64+." This type was struck 1887-92 and is quite a bit more available than the young head half crown it replaced. The bust of the queen with the tiny crown balanced on top was never popular and it was retired in 1893.
Recorded mintage: 1,438,000 (including the young head).
Specification: 14.14 g, 0.925 fine silver, 32.3 mm diameter.
