This specimen was lot 1569 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Gothic Florin, 1881. Victoria. Nearly uncirculated with fresh mint luster. PCGS graded About Uncirculated Detail (Cleaned)." This type was struck 1848-87 in reasonable quantities in an attempt to decimalize the currency (one pound = ten florins). This subtype was issued 1877-87.
Recorded mintage: 2,576,000 + proofs.
Specification: 11.31 g, 0.925 fine silver, .336 troy oz ASW, 28.3 mm diameter.
