This specimen was lot 1064 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $2,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1881-H. PCGS PROOF-64 RD. Obverse 11, reverse M. Brilliant flashing red surfaces. In an old green holder. From the Kevin Tierney Collection." This Heaton Mint issue is a fairly common date. This penny was struck 1874-94 in several varieties and is common, tho the proofs are rare. Worn specimens fill dealer junk boxes. Numerous varieties exist.
