This specimen was lot 31698 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Victoria Shilling 1851 MS64 NGC. Immensely pleasing, a far better date for the Victoria Shilling series and the joint highest certified with just one other example. A silky argent in the centers highlighting the crisp devices, transforming into rings of golden-red at the peripheries; a sublime blend of eye appeal and rarity. A near-unmatchable offering and one which the winning bidder will be proud to own." This shilling was struck 1838-87 for circulation.

Recorded mintage: 470,000 plus proofs, a better date.

Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver.
